DP World to Acquire Six UK Logistics Sites in September

en.Wedoany.com Reported - DP World has reached an agreement with GXO Logistics (GXO Logistics, NYSE: GXO) to transfer six contract logistics sites serving grocery customers to DP World. These sites collectively offer over 2 million square feet of warehousing capacity and currently employ 2,000 staff.

The site transfer is a regulatory condition of the UK Competition and Markets Authority's (CMA) approval of GXO's acquisition of Wincanton, and the transfer arrangements have been approved by the CMA.

Of the six sites, five are located in England and one in Northern Ireland, serving Asda, Sainsbury's, and Co-op, and will be transferred in September. More than 2,000 employees will move to DP World's UK operations, which encompass the major container ports of London Gateway and Southampton, logistics, freight forwarding, and maritime services. GXO will retain transport operations at all applicable sites.

This agreement will expand DP World's contract logistics footprint in the UK and enhance its ability to deliver integrated supply chain solutions for grocery, retail, and consumer goods customers.

The six facilities will add approximately 2 million square feet of warehousing capacity to DP World's UK network, offering ambient, chilled, frozen, and bonded warehousing services. These sites play a role in supplying groceries to communities across the UK, serving out-of-town supermarkets, branded convenience stores, and community shops, with warehouses set to stock around 46,000 product lines.

The new facilities will also expand DP World's national distribution network, supporting customers across the supply chain—from port and terminal operations to large-scale warehousing.

She added that this is a significant step in the company's vision to build end-to-end logistics services in the UK and Europe, strengthening its presence in key retail and consumer markets, broadening geographic coverage, and further enhancing its ability to create value for customers.
