Astemo Americas to Invest Over $112 Million in Kentucky Plant Expansion

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 1, Astemo Americas, Inc. announced plans to expand its manufacturing operations in Madison County, Kentucky, with a first-phase investment exceeding $112 million to increase hybrid vehicle motor production capacity at its two Berea plants and add 114 new jobs.

This phase will add nearly 300,000 square feet of production and warehousing space across the two Berea facilities, along with plant upgrades and the installation of new manufacturing equipment. The two plants currently handle chassis and e-drive system components, and the new capacity will primarily target hybrid vehicle motors and related e-drive components.

The Kentucky Economic Development Cabinet has designated the $112 million investment as the first phase of the expansion plan. Under current projections, the total project has a potential investment scale of up to $379 million, which could add as many as 282 jobs once fully implemented. Astemo Americas, meanwhile, is incorporating this investment into a multi-year capacity expansion program aimed at further increasing production of hybrid vehicle powertrain components at its Kentucky operations.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority granted preliminary approval in April 2026 for the company's related investment incentive agreements, covering the Kentucky Business Investment program and the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act. In addition to the two manufacturing plants in Berea, Astemo Americas also operates a facility in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, producing e-drive and engine management systems.
