China FAW Achieves Major Technical Breakthrough in Low-Pressure Operation of Sulfide All-Solid-State Batteries
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, China FAW, in collaboration with Eastern Institute of Technology, Ningbo, achieved a significant technical breakthrough in the field of low-pressure operation of sulfide all-solid-state batteries. The related findings, titled "Ionic Elastomer Interphase for Low-Pressure and Highly Stable Solid-State Batteries," were published in the internationally renowned journal Advanced Energy Materials. This marks a milestone breakthrough in China's mastery of key core technologies for the practical application of sulfide all-solid-state batteries, taking a critical step forward in the industrialization of all-solid-state batteries.
All-solid-state batteries generally require an operating pressure of over 20 megapascals, a long-standing global challenge that severely restricts their industrial application. To address this bottleneck, China FAW focused on the core pain point of interfacial contact degradation under low-pressure conditions. Through material morphology control, innovative low-pressure cell structure design, and preparation process optimization, the company successfully achieved stable cycling of large-capacity all-solid-state cells at a low pressure of just 5 megapascals. This breakthrough significantly reduces the cell's dependence on external pressure, effectively adapts to battery pack engineering design, and provides a key technical foundation for the large-scale manufacturing and application of sulfide all-solid-state batteries, delivering users a travel experience that is safer and offers longer range.
