Huang Renxun Calls on G20 to Accelerate AI Infrastructure Development

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 2, local time, Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, stated at the G20 Innovation Ministerial Meeting held in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA, that countries should accelerate the application of artificial intelligence and build supporting infrastructure such as data centers to meet their domestic economies' demand for AI computing power. Huang compared artificial intelligence to infrastructure such as water, electricity, roads, and the internet, proposing that countries need to establish AI infrastructure systems capable of serving their local economies.

Huang stated that countries should promote the application of AI in industrial sectors and avoid slowing adoption due to concerns over technological risks. He believes that at the current stage of AI technology development, the most unfavorable outcome for a country is failing to utilize relevant technologies and falling behind in the process. Regarding AI's impact on employment, Huang said that AI will automate some job tasks, but this does not mean the overall disappearance of jobs; rather, job content and execution methods will undergo adjustments.

On regulation, Huang advocated that regulatory measures should target actual problems that have already occurred, rather than formulating rules around hypothetical or theoretical harms. He also proposed that AI companies should bear the responsibility of developing products safely, establishing corresponding product safety mechanisms while technology advances rapidly.

The G20 Innovation Ministerial Meeting was held from September 1 to 2 and was co-hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. The meeting produced a ministerial consensus statement on innovation and reached consensus on the "Carolina Principles for Emerging Technologies," covering areas such as innovation policy frameworks, AI intellectual property, AI standards, technical talent, and industrial innovation and supply chain investment. U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick held dialogues during the meeting with Jensen Huang, Anthropic co-founder Tom Brown, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Palantir CEO Alex Karp, respectively.
