Baker Hughes Secures Multi-Year Contract with OGDC to Evaluate Over 120 Mature Oil and Gas Wells
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 2, Baker Hughes announced that it has signed a multi-year contract with Pakistan Oil & Gas Development Company (OGDC) to optimize production from OGDC's mature oil and gas assets through its Mature Assets Solutions (MAS) offering. The initial phase of the project will focus on assessing production issues at the Tando Alam Oil Complex and the Pirkoh gas field, and will develop redevelopment plans for over 120 oil and gas wells, integrating OGDC's production targets and economic indicators with integrated technology and digital solutions.

Following the completion of the initial assessment, the two parties will proceed to the field execution phase. Baker Hughes plans to deploy AI-assisted chemical injection solutions to improve flow assurance conditions, while also screening workover and well intervention options to implement targeted treatments on low-producing wells, aiming to restore or enhance production from existing oil and gas wells. This contract falls under OGDC's ongoing Production Optimisation Drive, which focuses on identifying production opportunities in mature oil and gas assets and optimizing the production capacity of existing wells.
OGDC currently operates 18 major mature oil and gas assets, including 12 oil fields and 6 natural gas and condensate fields. The company's current daily production exceeds 40,000 barrels of crude oil, approximately 815 million standard cubic feet of natural gas, approximately 780 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, and approximately 80 tons of sulfur. The project will be executed in two phases; OGDC stated that the first phase is expected to be completed within one year, followed by the subsequent phase.
The contract signing ceremony was held at OGDC's headquarters in Islamabad. Neither Baker Hughes nor OGDC has disclosed the contract value; Baker Hughes has characterized it as a multi-year contract and confirmed that it will continue to undertake the subsequent technical implementation work after the initial assessment is completed.
