Syensqo Invests in Polymer Compounding Line in India, Doubling Capacity by Q1 2028

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 3, Syensqo launched an investment in a new compounding line for high-performance aromatic polymers at its Panoli site in Gujarat, India. The new line is scheduled to begin operations in the first quarter of 2028, at which point the existing compounding capacity at the Panoli site will be doubled, making it the first production asset in the company's plan to establish a modular compounding hub locally.

The new line will cover multiple Syensqo high-performance polymer product families, including Ryton® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), KetaSpire® polyetheretherketone (PEEK), Amodel® polyphthalamide (PPA), and Ixef® polyarylamide (PARA). The modular production configuration allows compounding runs to be scheduled across these different aromatic polymers, enabling the Panoli site to adjust capacity allocation based on specific products and customer orders.

The line primarily targets local and multinational automotive manufacturers and automotive parts suppliers in India, while also serving other industrial customers. The automotive applications listed by Syensqo involve components requiring high-temperature resistance, chemical resistance, mechanical performance, and lightweight properties. This investment does not alter upstream polymer production but rather adds local material compounding and supply capabilities in India.

The Panoli site is operated by Syensqo Specialty Chemicals India Private Limited and is located in the Panoli GIDC industrial area in the Bharuch district of Gujarat. According to official Syensqo India materials, the company established its Panoli manufacturing base in 2006 through the acquisition of Gharda Chemicals' polymer business, and currently operates manufacturing facilities in Panoli and Roha, as well as an R&D center in Vadodara, India.

The certification scope of the existing Panoli plant covers the manufacturing and supply of high-performance specialty engineering plastics, composite materials, and related monomers. Its ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 management system certifications are currently valid through March 2028. The commissioning of this new compounding line is scheduled for the first quarter of 2028, directly aligning with the company's existing high-performance materials manufacturing system in India.
