en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 19, Italian high-performance thermoplastic composites manufacturer Xenia Materials signed an R&D cooperation agreement with the Institute of Polymers, Composites and Biomaterials of the Italian National Research Council (IPCB-CNR) to jointly develop new composites with self-healing, energy absorption, electromagnetic shielding and conductive functions. The R&D work will combine reinforcing materials such as carbon fiber, nanofillers and graphene, targeting high-performance engineering component applications in aerospace, defense and energy sectors.

The collaborative R&D will prioritize thermoplastic composite formulations suitable for injection molding, while also covering pellet extrusion and filament extrusion 3D printing processes. The two parties plan to combine mechanical properties of materials with specific functional requirements, studying material formulations under different reinforcement systems and processing methods to provide more material options for the development of complex structural components.

IPCB-CNR will provide scientific research resources in the fields of polymers, composites and biomaterials, while Xenia Materials will contribute its experience in reinforced thermoplastic composite development and industrial processing. The two parties will jointly conduct new material design and experimental development, and advance subsequent technology transfer around the adaptation of material formulations and manufacturing processes.
