en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 2, Japan's Komatsu and the Atlassian Williams F1 team formally completed the renewal of their collaboration in Komatsu City, Japan, extending the existing global cooperation agreement through 2026 and beyond. Under the new agreement, Komatsu has become the Williams team's new Official Hydraulic Innovation Partner, with the scope of cooperation expanding from branding and talent programs to include racing engineering and manufacturing technology. Komatsu's engineering team will participate in the development of key components for Williams' future F1 cars.

The technical collaboration will focus on hydraulic systems and advanced manufacturing. Williams confirmed that Komatsu will leverage its hydraulic expertise accumulated in construction machinery, mining equipment, and industrial machinery to participate in the team's relevant technical projects. Komatsu also stated that its advanced manufacturing engineers will be directly involved in the development of certain key components for future racing cars. Specific component models, R&D budgets, racing platforms, or individual hydraulic system parameters have not yet been disclosed by either party.

The engineering collaboration between the two parties dates back to the 1990s. Komatsu previously manufactured gear components for the Williams cars that secured the F1 World Championship titles in 1996 and 1997. The two parties resumed cooperation in 2024, and this renewal further adds hydraulic engineering and key component development content, extending the partnership from commercial collaboration into tangible engineering projects.

Under the new arrangement, Komatsu also plans to expand its participation across the Formula 2, Formula 3, and F1 Academy series starting in 2027. Williams confirmed that the new collaboration cycle will extend into 2027 and beyond, but neither party has disclosed the agreement's expiration year or the contract value of the relevant technical projects.
