Olympic Highway Bridge in Australia to Reopen to Two-Way Traffic on September 15

The bridge was struck by a truck in September 2025, severely damaging the western bridge barrier structure, and has since remained open to single-lane traffic only. UGL Regional Linx plans to readjust the existing safety barriers on the bridge deck from September 15 to 17 to restore two-lane access; a temporary speed limit will remain in place on the bridge deck until permanent repairs are completed.

After this traffic adjustment is completed, the bridge will first resume two-way traffic, with permanent repairs scheduled to be carried out during the November railway possession window. Construction crews are expected to mobilize on November 2 and plan to complete repairs by mid-November, with the specific schedule depending on weather and site conditions. Because the work location falls within the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) rail corridor, the repairs can only be carried out during an approved railway possession.

UGL Regional Linx has included the September 15–17 maintenance of the Wallendbeen Olympic Highway bridge in the regional rail network construction program. During the work, light vehicles will detour via Silo Road, an arrangement that applies to both local and through traffic; heavy vehicles will detour via Wombat Road onto Burley Griffin Way. Both detour arrangements will remain in place until the permanent repairs are completed.

After the November repairs are completed, the current temporary speed limit plan will be lifted at the same time, and the bridge will return to normal traffic operation. The repairs target bridge damage caused by the 2025 vehicle collision, with the western bridge barrier identified as the main damaged component; publicly available information has not yet disclosed the contract value of the November permanent repairs or more detailed numbers of structural components to be replaced.
