Cumulative Cargo Shipments via China's New Western Land-Sea Corridor Trains Exceed 6 Million TEUs

(referred to as China Railway Nanning Bureau), as of September 10 this year, the cumulative container shipments via New Western Land-Sea Corridor trains have successfully exceeded 6 million TEUs, marking that this major southbound sea-going corridor in western China has entered a brand-new stage of large-scale and high-quality development.

"In the first eight months of this year, New Western Land-Sea Corridor trains transported a total of 857,000 TEUs of cargo. The two-way cargo flow along the corridor has seen strong supply and demand on both sides and remained balanced and smooth, with overall transport quality and efficiency achieving steady improvement," introduced Zhao Jian, deputy stationmaster of the Qinzhou Port East Station of the Coastal Railway Company under China Railway Nanning Bureau. At present, import sources mainly cover specialty agricultural products from Southeast Asia, industrial raw materials, cross-border e-commerce goods, etc., effectively filling the gaps in production raw materials for industries in China's southwestern and northwestern hinterlands and meeting the demand for livelihood supplies; export goods are mainly high-value-added "Western Intelligent Manufacturing" products such as electromechanical products, light industrial products, and fine chemical products, continuously helping inland advantageous industries to precisely deepen their presence in the ASEAN market, enabling high-quality production capacity in western China to efficiently connect with the international market.

China Railway Nanning Bureau stated that in the future it will continue to give full play to the backbone supporting role of railways, and, in conjunction with the soon-to-be-opened Pinglu Canal, promote the accelerated formation of a new "river-rail-sea" intermodal pattern for the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, continuously amplify the corridor's hub advantages and road network efficiency, and make every effort to build an efficient, smooth, stable, convenient, economical, and reliable international land-sea intermodal corridor.
