India's Jupiter Wagons Secures INR 97.66 Million Railway Wagon Order from GATX

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 8, India's Jupiter Wagons Limited signed a railway wagon procurement agreement with GATX India Private Limited, with a contract value of INR 97.66 million, including applicable taxes. Under the agreement, Jupiter Wagons will supply BFNS22.9-type railway wagon rakes to GATX India.

The BFNS22.9-type railway wagon is primarily used for transporting steel coils, and can also transport steel plates, flat steel, rails, and rolled sections. Technical parameters published by GATX show that this wagon type is equipped with 5 longitudinal coil slots, has a payload of 64.9 tonnes per wagon, an axle load of 22.9 tonnes, and a body length of approximately 14.645 meters.

GATX India was established in 2012 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of GATX Corporation in India. The company currently operates more than 10,000 railway wagons in India, with a fleet covering transportation sectors such as steel, cement, containers, and automotive logistics.

Jupiter Wagons' existing railway wagon products include open-top wagons, flat wagons, tank wagons, and various specialized wagons. The company previously disclosed that its monthly railway wagon manufacturing capacity has reached approximately 700 units, and it plans to further increase this to approximately 900 units per month as newly added casting and supporting manufacturing capacity is commissioned.
