Jammu, India Approves Two Parking Facility Projects Worth Rs 493.4 Million
en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 12, the government of Jammu and Kashmir, India approved two large parking infrastructure projects in Jammu city, with a combined estimated investment of Rs 493.4 million. The projects are the Parade Parking and Commercial Complex and the SMGS Hospital Multi-Level Parking Facility. The construction goal is to alleviate parking pressure in the urban core area and improve traffic organization. Both projects have received administrative approval.

The Parade Parking and Commercial Complex will combine parking facilities with commercial functions, increasing centralized parking capacity in areas with dense population and vehicles while improving land use efficiency in the central urban area. The SMGS Hospital project, meanwhile, addresses the continuously growing vehicle demand from patients, visitors, and staff around the hospital. Through multi-level parking facilities, it will reduce on-street parking around the hospital and improve traffic conditions at the entrances and exits of the medical facility.
The Jammu Master Plan has long regarded multi-level parking facilities as an important measure to alleviate traffic congestion in the core urban area. The city's existing parking pressure is mainly concentrated in the old city, commercial districts, hospitals, stations, and around public service facilities. The plan has proposed improving road traffic efficiency in the core area by building centralized multi-level parking facilities, improving the entrances and exits of surface parking lots, and restricting on-street parking on key roads.
The two approved projects involve a combined investment of Rs 493.4 million and will further supplement the public parking infrastructure in Jammu's central urban area. The Parade area is a concentrated zone of urban commercial and public activities, while SMGS Hospital is a high-frequency public service venue. Both locations have sustained parking demand. The projects will subsequently enter the engineering procurement and construction implementation process, mainly involving the main structure, electromechanical systems, fire protection facilities, vehicle entrances and exits, traffic organization, and supporting commercial space construction.
The implementation of the two projects will further shift Jammu's urban parking development from decentralized surface parking toward three-dimensional public parking facilities. By increasing parking capacity per unit of land, they will free up more traffic space on roads in the core urban area and improve urban public service support in medical and commercial areas.
