en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 18, India's state-owned rail transit equipment manufacturer BEML announced that it had secured a high-speed rail rolling stock order worth over Rs 54 billion from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor.

The scope of the order includes the supply, maintenance, and related supporting work of high-speed rail rolling stock for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project. The line, approximately 508 kilometers long, connects Mumbai in Maharashtra with Ahmedabad in Gujarat and is India's first high-speed rail corridor.

BEML had previously been advancing the construction of a high-speed train manufacturing system for the project. According to the company's 2025 cooperation document on key high-speed train systems, it is carrying out the design, manufacturing, supply, testing, and commissioning of Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail trains, and plans to introduce Indian domestic propulsion system and bogie suppliers over the long term. The related train technical goals involve the localization of the high-speed train platform and supporting key systems.

The rolling stock maintenance system for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project is also being built in parallel. In August 2026, NHSRCL signed a rolling stock maintenance machinery contract with a consortium comprising India's Avadh Rail Infra and South Korea's Kumchun System Company for the configuration of high-speed train inspection and repair equipment. The project is also building depots at Sabarmati, Surat, and Thane, with the Thane depot responsible for daily maintenance and inspection of trains.

In addition to rolling stock systems, contracts for signaling, communication, and operations and maintenance support for the high-speed rail project are also being advanced. NHSRCL had previously awarded a signaling and communication system contract worth Rs 41.4 billion to a consortium comprising DRA Infracon and Siemens, and is advancing SCADA, ticketing systems, and related project management consulting work
