Wedoany.com Report-Nov 9, German shipping and container transportation company Hapag-Lloyd resumed container services from Ukraine's Odessa ports following Denmark's Maersk, Ukrainian media quoted Crispin Ellison, Marsh McLennan senior partner, as saying.

Speaking at the 10th Kyiv International Economic Forum, Ellison said Maersk had announced ten days before that it was launching weekly container services from Odessa ports, and Hapag-Lloyd, one of the largest shipping operators and quite a conservative one, was following the suit.

As reported, Maersk Group (MSC), the world's leading container shipping company, launched weekly feeder services to the Chernomorsk port in October. The first shipment departed a hub in Port Said on October 16 and arrived in Chernomorsk on October 22.

The Association of International Freight Forwarders of Ukraine (AIFFU) said that feeder services would significantly reduce the shipping time to and from Chernomorsk, compared to barge shipments between Constanta and Chernomorsk.

Maersk also announced that it would revise its Terminal Handling Service - Origin (OHC) and Terminal Handling Service - Destination (DHC) fees for all containers from/to Chernomorsk starting November 1.

Feeder services imply the use of small container ships known as feeder vessels, or feeders, to transport freight between small local ports and large container shipping hubs.
