International Green Shipping Corridors Alliance Officially Established

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 23, during the Global Sustainable Transport Forum (2026), the International Green Shipping Corridors Alliance was officially established in Beijing, with its first general assembly held concurrently. The Alliance was jointly initiated by the China International Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center, COSCO Shipping Group, CMA CGM Group of France, China Energy Engineering Group, and Shanghai International Port Group. It is positioned as a non-governmental international organization based on international green shipping corridor cooperation, with founding members currently covering 12 countries and a total of 45 enterprises.

Alliance members cover the upstream and downstream of the green shipping industry chain, including shipping companies, port operators, and energy and infrastructure enterprises. Its subsequent work priorities will focus on the development of international green shipping corridors, promoting the alignment of rules and international standards for green vessels, green fuels, and green ports, and advancing the development of an international certification system for green marine fuels.

In terms of specific cooperation directions, the Alliance plans to coordinate transport facilitation measures, promote the implementation of green shipping demonstration projects, and carry out technological research and development, commercialization of research outcomes, and capacity building. Compared with general industry associations, its work focuses more on "corridor-based" cooperation, that is, centering on specific international routes to advance vessels, ports, fuel supply, certification, and transport organization within a unified framework.

This mechanism is consistent with China's current policy direction of advancing international green shipping corridors and a global zero-carbon fuel bunkering network. The transport system has recently explicitly proposed to actively promote the cooperative development of international green shipping corridors, jointly build a global zero-carbon fuel bunkering network, and accelerate the formation of a domestic sustainable fuel certification system
