Carrier Launches WeatherFlex 50FC Commercial Rooftop Heat Pump with Heating Capacity up to 50 kW

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 23, Carrier launched the WeatherFlex 50FC reversible air-source rooftop heat pump for commercial and industrial building applications. The series adopts air-to-air heat pump technology, with rated cooling capacity of approximately 23–49 kW and heating capacity of approximately 22–50 kW, and an outdoor operating temperature range of -18°C to 50°C.

The WeatherFlex 50FC uses R-454C refrigerant, which has a global warming potential (GWP) of less than 150, and is equipped with inverter scroll compressors. Carrier positions the series for 20–50 kW commercial rooftop air conditioning and heat pump applications, suitable for new construction as well as HVAC retrofits of existing commercial buildings.

The product offers optional configurations including free cooling, heat recovery, variable air volume, and extended air volume, and features a factory pre-programmed control system to reduce on-site commissioning work after installation. The equipment also integrates multi-zone control and energy metering functions, and can connect to Carrier's Abound HVAC platform for remote operation monitoring and building HVAC system management.

The series was developed in response to upcoming refrigerant regulatory requirements for commercial heat pump and air conditioning equipment in Europe. Under the EU F-gas regulation schedule, certain self-contained air conditioning and heat pump equipment with capacities not exceeding 50 kW will be subject to a refrigerant restriction of GWP no higher than 150 starting in 2027, and the R-454C used in the WeatherFlex 50FC aligns with this product transition direction.

Carrier previously already had a 50FC series rooftop heat pump product using R-454B refrigerant, and the newly launched WeatherFlex 50FC further switches the refrigerant to R-454C with a GWP below 150. Public information has not yet disclosed the specific launch countries, pricing, initial delivery time, or seasonal energy efficiency parameters such as SEER and SCOP for this series.
