en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 28, Tullow Oil disclosed that it has signed a drilling rig contract for its 2027–2028 second-round drilling campaign offshore Ghana, and will use the drillship Noble Faye Kozack, owned by Noble Corporation, to carry out the operations. This Campaign 2 is planned to drill up to 10 wells, and the drillship is expected to arrive in Ghanaian waters around mid-2027.

The Noble Faye Kozack is a Samsung 12000 dual-hull design drillship with a maximum operating water depth of approximately 12,000 feet and a maximum drilling depth of approximately 40,000 feet, making it suitable for ultra-deepwater drilling operations. Noble has confirmed that it has been awarded this offshore Ghana drilling contract by Tullow.

The targets for the new drilling round will be selected mainly based on Tullow's latest 4D seismic data, further refined in combination with ocean bottom node (OBN) seismic survey results. Tullow's core assets in Ghana are currently the two offshore oilfields Jubilee and TEN. In February this year, the two petroleum agreements were approved by Ghana's Parliament for extension to 2040, providing a longer development cycle for subsequent drilling and reserves development.

This contract follows Tullow's just-completed 2025–2026 Jubilee drilling campaign. That round of operations was completed in September, with a total of 6 production wells and 1 water injection well brought into production. Tullow said the new wells have performed above expectations, and it is simultaneously advancing subsea pumps, follow-up development drilling at Jubilee and TEN, gas commercialization, and workover projects.

The Jubilee oilfield remains Tullow's main producing asset in Ghana. The company has previously received approval for the Greater Jubilee further development plan, allowing it to drill up to 20 additional wells after the existing plan; the 10-well plan for 2027–2028 is a specific implementation arrangement for the next phase, with drilling equipment already secured.
