Romania's VIFOR Wind Phase I 192MW Connected to Grid

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 2, Rezolv Energy completed the energization and grid connection of Phase I of the VIFOR wind farm in Buzău County, Romania, with 192MW of installed capacity connected to the Romanian grid. This phase is equipped with a total of 30 Vestas V162 EnVentus wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.4MW; Vestas is also responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction general contracting of the Phase I project.

Phase I adopts the V162-6.2MW platform turbines, configured in 6.4MW operating mode, with a tower height of 166 meters and a rotor diameter of 162 meters. According to the Vestas contract, its scope of work includes not only turbine supply, transportation, and commissioning, but also project civil and electrical engineering; after the project is completed, Vestas will provide subsequent operations and maintenance services under a 15-year AOM 5000 service agreement.

VIFOR Phase I is implemented by the project company First Look Solutions. In June 2024, the project obtained up to €291 million in financing, with the lending syndicate led by Erste Group, UniCredit Group, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and with participation from the International Finance Corporation, Intesa Sanpaolo Group, OTP Bank, Raiffeisen Bank International, and Garanti BBVA Romania.

Phase I of the project also has power offtake arrangements provided by long-term corporate power purchase agreements. Currently, VIFOR has signed 6 long-term corporate power purchase agreements with T-Mobile Czech Republic, Slovak Telekom, CE Colo Czech Republic, Bekaert, A2A, and Etem Gestamp, covering a total annual electricity volume of more than 350GWh.

VIFOR Phase II has entered the construction stage, adding 42 wind turbines and 269MW of installed capacity, with civil and electrical infrastructure undertaken by PORR. Phase II has obtained up to €331 million in additional project financing and is scheduled for completion in 2027; by then, VIFOR's total installed capacity will reach 461MW.
