en.Wedoany.com Reported - Boskalis has been awarded a contract by Zeevonk for the transport and installation of the inter-array cable system for Phase 1 of the Zeevonk offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea. Zeevonk is a joint venture between Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners. Boskalis describes the contract as substantial, which under the company's definition means a value between EUR 50 million and EUR 150 million.

The contract scope covers approximately 149 km of 66 kV cables to connect 69 turbines, as well as cable testing, termination production, and cable protection systems. Boskalis will use its cable-laying vessel BOKA Ocean to transport the cables from its fabrication base in Eemshaven, and will deploy a subsea rock installation vessel for survey and seabed intervention works.

Engineering is set to commence soon, with offshore installation planned for 2029. Zeevonk is located approximately 45 nautical miles northwest of IJmuiden, with an installed capacity of approximately 2 GW, built in two phases of approximately 1 GW each. The planned commercial operation date for Phase 1 is 2029.

The project is located in Dutch waters rather than the Baltic Sea, but this contract provides a reference data point for cable installation capacity in the broader North Sea market, which competes with Baltic projects for vessels and cable supply.
