en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 12, Patrick Mariru, Principal Secretary of Kenya's Ministry of Defence, announced the progress of Phase One of the new campus of Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. The project is located in the Kiplombe area of Uasin Gishu County, with a master plan of 4,000 beds, covering approximately 200 acres, and an estimated investment of over 50 billion Kenyan shillings. Phase One involves the construction of 2,000 beds and is scheduled for completion in 2027, with the Kenya Defence Forces overseeing the construction.

Phase One facilities include 60 intensive care unit beds and 120 high dependency unit beds. The construction also includes accommodation facilities for medical trainees and researchers. The site is located near Eldoret Airstrip, foundation work has already begun within the construction area, and construction machinery such as tower cranes has been deployed on site.

According to the construction plan published by Kenya's Ministry of Defence in November 2025, the hospital adopts a two-phase construction model, with Phase One targeted for completion in April 2027 and Phase Two planned to add another 2,000 beds. The project is led by the Ministry of Defence, with the Ministry of Health and the Uasin Gishu County Government participating in coordination. In June 2026, Kenya's Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defence held a project progress coordination meeting to review construction progress, implementation timelines, and project execution milestones.
