en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 15, BW Energy announced that two appraisal wells at the Dussafu field offshore Gabon, which it operates, both discovered oil resources with commercial development potential, with an estimated combined incremental recoverable oil of approximately 8 million to 9 million barrels. The 10P2 and 10P1 appraisal wells encountered oil columns of 30 meters and 16 meters, respectively, and test and logging results support the addition of two production wells. The first of these production wells is planned to be included in the MaBoMo Phase 2 drilling program, with first oil expected in the first quarter of 2027.

The oil column depth encountered by the 10P2 appraisal well in the Gamba reservoir is consistent with pre-drill geological predictions, and formation evaluation confirmed that the reservoir has good porosity and permeability. Wireline logging and pressure test results indicate that the planned production well could initially produce more than 5,000 barrels of oil per day. BW Energy estimates approximately 6 million barrels of incremental recoverable oil associated with this well, which is expected to be drilled using existing MaBoMo production facilities, with a payback period potentially shorter than one year.

The 10P1 appraisal well, meanwhile, discovered oil in a separate oil-bearing structure, with formation evaluation confirming good reservoir quality and the detection of movable oil. The company plans to use the appraisal results from this well to deploy another production well, with the specific drilling timing to be determined in conjunction with the overall Dussafu operational schedule and the Bourdon Phase 1 development project.

Currently, the drilling rig is en route to the MaBoMo production facilities. BW Energy plans to first perform a workover on an existing Hibiscus production well to replace the electrical submersible pump, then drill the 4 production wells originally planned for MaBoMo Phase 2, and subsequently drill a 5th production well in the 10P2 target area from the existing facilities. The original 4 production wells are expected to each initially produce approximately 5,000 barrels of oil per day, and once brought on stream in sequence, MaBoMo Phase 2 is expected to add peak crude oil production of approximately 20,000 barrels per day. The production from the additional appraisal target production well is not included in this peak forecast.

After completing the MaBoMo drilling program, BW Energy also plans to drill an infill production well in the Tortue field, followed by the Bourdon Phase 1 development project. Bourdon is planned to achieve first oil in the first quarter of 2028, and in the same year the company will also conduct further appraisal drilling on the Walt Whitman and Bourdon surrounding targets.

The Dussafu license area is operated by BW Energy, which holds a 73.5% working interest, while Panoro Energy and Gabon Oil Company hold 17.5% and 9%, respectively. BW Energy has set a long-term total crude oil production target for the license area of 30,000 to 45,000 barrels per day.
