en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 21, Georgian telecom operator Silknet announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Silk Cloud has signed an agreement for the deployment of AI computing infrastructure, with plans to build a computing cluster in Georgia based on NVIDIA's Blackwell Ultra architecture. The project will serve as the first phase of the sovereign AI computing facility planned for the country, utilizing HGX B300 systems supplied by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), and is scheduled to commence operations in 2027 after obtaining the necessary permits.

Under the deployment plan, the computing cluster will provide local AI computing resources to Georgian enterprises, startups, research institutions, and other organizations. Silk Cloud plans to launch enterprise-grade AI services covering large model training, inference, and application deployment, and to support the development of Georgian-language large language models and AI applications tailored to local needs. The computing facility will be located within Georgia, allowing customers to use locally hosted resources for data processing and model operation to meet relevant data residency requirements.

Through this investment, Silknet will build Georgia's first computing cluster based on NVIDIA's Blackwell Ultra architecture, with its subsidiary Silk Cloud responsible for the related AI services. The project is part of Silknet's investment plan to expand from traditional telecom connectivity services into cloud computing and AI infrastructure businesses.
