Wedoany.com Report-Jul. 12, A contract for drilling a geothermal exploration well has been signed in the commune of Moszczenica, Poland. The service will be carried out by UOS Drilling. If successful, the project will provide geothermal heat to a heating network currently under construction, which will initially serve public buildings and may later be extended to private properties.

Signing of geothermal drilling contract for Moszczenica, Poland

The agreement was signed by Mayor Dariusz Magacz and Treasurer Anna Bijoch. Drilling will reach a target depth of 2,660 meters, where underground temperatures are expected to reach up to 70°C. The drilling process is estimated to take between three and six months. Construction and surveying work will begin shortly as part of the implementation phase. Approximately 30 personnel will be engaged on-site for the project.

Supervision of the drilling activities will be led by contract engineer Bogdan Noga, representing Multi Consult. The project includes preparation of the site and careful monitoring to ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.

UOS Drilling’s representative, Arkadiusz Biedulski, emphasized the company's expertise: “Our many years of experience allow us to carry out the work efficiently, and the noise from the machinery will not disturb the daily lives of residents.”

Funding for the drilling of the exploration well is being provided by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOSiGW). Moszczenica was selected for the grant as part of a funding round announced in late 2024. The financial support will help assess the potential of geothermal energy in the area and contribute to local energy sustainability.

The heating network supported by this project is intended to provide an alternative, low-emission source of thermal energy. The initiative also supports long-term goals related to energy efficiency and reducing environmental impact in the region.

Once operational, the geothermal system is expected to enhance local infrastructure and benefit residents by improving energy supply stability. The project reflects growing interest in renewable heating solutions across Poland, particularly in smaller municipalities with access to geothermal resources.

The results of the exploration drilling will determine the next steps in the project’s development. If the thermal water resources at the expected depth meet technical and environmental requirements, further investment in infrastructure and network expansion will be planned.

This initiative represents a collaboration between local government, private industry, and national environmental agencies, highlighting the importance of partnerships in advancing sustainable energy projects.
