en.Wedoany.com Reported - The City of Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA has officially launched the Housing Development Dashboard, a public tracking platform that centralizes nearly 250 residential projects across the city at various stages of development, covering planning applications, permit approvals, construction, and project completion. The platform consolidates housing development records from multiple municipal departments and discloses to residents information such as project locations, development status, and changes in the number of housing units.

The projects included in the platform comprise residential projects under review or under construction, as well as projects completed since January 1, 2025. Renovation projects that increase or decrease the number of housing units on a site are also included in the statistics. Unlike the previous quarterly development records for large-scale projects, the new platform also covers early-stage development applications that have not yet formally obtained construction permits.

According to data published by local Cambridge media on October 23, the platform initially includes 20 completed projects, 136 permitted projects, and 89 projects with submitted permit applications. Among them, most completed projects are renovations of existing housing, with some projects adding or removing only one housing unit.

In terms of affordable housing, 4 of the permitted projects include inclusionary housing units, one of which is a 439-unit project in Kendall Square that is under construction. Another 15 projects with submitted applications include inclusionary housing, and these projects still need to proceed through the approval process.

In February 2025, Cambridge adopted a multifamily zoning ordinance allowing multifamily housing to be built in residential zoning districts citywide. The new platform will be used to track actual changes in housing development activity following the implementation of this policy, with data covering new construction, renovation, and approval progress of housing across different neighborhoods.

The platform supports filtering by project status, geographic location, and other criteria, and integrates building permit applications and data from other municipal departments. The city government plans to subsequently add links to specific permits for each residential project, as well as information entry points for public participation in project review.

The Cambridge city government has also launched a resident guide to housing development and arranged dedicated multifamily housing community liaisons responsible for coordinating resident inquiries about the zoning system and residential development projects. Platform data and features will be continuously updated based on subsequent project filings, construction progress, and resident feedback.
