Swiss Implenia Wins CHF 165 Million Schaffhausen Hospital Contract

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 28, the Swiss hospital group Spitäler Schaffhausen selected Implenia Schweiz AG, a subsidiary of the domestic construction company Implenia, as the general contractor for the new hospital construction project, with a winning bid of approximately CHF 164.8 million (excluding VAT). The project is a core component of the Schaffhausen hospital modernization plan, covering operating rooms, emergency care, intensive care, outpatient services, obstetrics, and inpatient facilities. Construction is expected to begin in summer 2027.

The general contractor selection process combined prequalification with formal tendering. A total of 4 companies entered the subsequent procurement procedure, of which 2 submitted formal bids, both meeting the quality requirements stipulated in the tender documents. Following comprehensive evaluation, Implenia Schweiz AG received the highest score, and its pricing advantage proved to be the decisive factor in the final award.

The new hospital will centrally accommodate operating rooms, intensive care units, an emergency department, a central outpatient center, obstetrics, and inpatient wards, while optimizing connections and internal circulation between the various medical functional areas. Patient rooms are designed to be usable as either single or double rooms to accommodate different inpatient needs.

The award decision was made by the Spitäler Schaffhausen board of directors, with the procurement process organized and implemented by a specially established construction committee. Contract execution will proceed in accordance with local procurement procedures. Once the statutory appeal period has expired and no appeals affecting the award decision exist, the project will move into the further design and construction preparation phase.

Implenia's contractor announcement published on October 29 confirmed that the project is scheduled to break ground in summer 2027. The company will serve as general contractor for the new hospital construction, with subsequent work focusing on construction preparation, coordination of medical building functions, and construction implementation. Specific construction milestones remain subject to the statutory procurement procedures and project preparation progress.
