en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 29, Italy's AC Milan and Inter Milan jointly released the design plan for a new stadium in the city of Milan, planning to build a modern sports venue with approximately 71,500 seats, officially named Generali Stadium. The project is designed jointly by Foster + Partners and MANICA, with construction scheduled to begin in 2028 and the goal of being put into use for the 2031–2032 season. Subsequent construction is still subject to the necessary approvals.

The new stadium adopts a concrete X-shaped frame structure, with a facade design that echoes the architectural elements of Milan Cathedral. The X-shaped structure extends from the natural ventilation colonnade to the building facade and rises upward to support a hyperbolic paraboloid roof. The roof is planned to integrate photovoltaic power generation, acoustic optimization and other sustainable building technologies. The venue entrances feature a diamond-shaped structure, and a circular public walkway is provided with views of the Milan cityscape.

The spectator seating adopts a two-tier 360-degree wraparound bowl layout, with steep integrated fan stands at both ends of the pitch, reaching a maximum incline of 37 degrees. The stands are positioned close to the playing field, and the on-site spectator experience is optimized through acoustic design. The venue also plans accessible passage facilities, hospitality service areas and spectator seating of different tiers.

The new stadium is located within an urban regeneration project covering an area of approximately 281,000 square meters. Surrounding areas will include public plazas, green spaces, leisure and retail spaces, forming a comprehensive district encompassing sports events, cultural entertainment and public activities. The architectural plan also takes into account natural ventilation, photovoltaic power generation and operational energy efficiency management to reduce the venue's long-term energy consumption and environmental impact.

The project development is jointly promoted by AC Milan and Inter Milan, whose investors are RedBird Capital and Oaktree Capital, respectively. Italy's Generali Group has acquired the naming rights to the new stadium and will serve as the official insurance partner of both clubs. The project previously reached relevant agreements with the Milan municipal government in 2025 and is currently in the subsequent design development and planning approval stage.
