Wedoany.com Report-Sept. 17, Summer precipitation in some regions has helped improve the situation for Ukraine's corn harvest, with analysts from the independent price agency ARGUS Media forecasting a total harvest of 31.3 million tons of corn this year, from an area of 4.5 million hectares, as reported by the State Statistics Service.

During a Trend&Hedge Club meeting, Oleksiy Yeremin, an analyst from ARGUS Media, shared these insights. He explained that, while the harvest looks promising, Ukraine might face challenges in exporting the crop. He estimated that 26 million tons of corn could be available for export in the new season, but market conditions could make it difficult to sell abroad.

Yeremin highlighted that while Ukraine has a substantial corn supply this year, competition in the global market is fierce. He pointed out that at the end of winter 2025, corn prices in Ukraine increased, while prices in the U.S. dropped. As a result, the U.S. has been able to take over some of the markets that Ukraine traditionally served. He remarked, “While we were busy with Turkey, the U.S. was entering new markets with its corn.”

This dynamic shift in the market has the potential to affect Ukraine's ability to maintain its export share, especially given the large quantity of corn expected to be harvested. The upcoming season will likely see heightened competition, particularly in regions where Ukraine had historically been a key supplier.
