Wedoany.com Report-Oct. 12, Elawan Energy has won two wind power projects in Romania’s latest public auction, totalling 92MW, under a 15-year Contract for Difference (CfD) with the Romanian government. The CfD provides long-term revenue certainty and paves the way for construction of both projects, currently at the ready-to-build stage and expected to commence operations in 2028.

The wind farms are designed to supply clean, sustainable electricity to thousands of homes and businesses, contributing to Romania’s energy transition and supporting broader European decarbonisation objectives.

Mauro Miranda, manager of revenue management at Elawan Energy, said: “This achievement represents a strategic milestone for Elawan Energy, as it strengthens our presence in Eastern Europe and consolidates our contribution to the global energy transition.”

The projects further expand Elawan’s international renewable energy portfolio, reinforcing its role as a partner in advancing sustainable energy solutions. The company operates in 15 countries and manages 267 projects, including 2.1GW of installed capacity, 830MW currently under construction, and a development pipeline exceeding 11.7GW.

Headquartered in Madrid, Elawan Energy develops, builds, and operates wind, solar, and hydroelectric projects, offering full-cycle clean energy solutions across Europe, the Americas, Turkey, and South Africa.

The Romanian projects are part of Elawan’s broader strategy to strengthen its footprint in Eastern Europe and deliver renewable energy projects that align with global sustainability goals. By securing long-term contracts through competitive auctions, Elawan ensures stable returns while supporting the integration of clean energy into local grids.

The successful auction award highlights the company’s expertise in project development and its ability to meet government criteria for readiness, technical standards, and sustainability compliance. Once operational, the 92MW capacity will contribute meaningfully to Romania’s renewable energy supply, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and help meet national and regional emissions reduction targets.

Elawan Energy’s ongoing growth underscores the company’s commitment to delivering impactful clean energy projects, scaling operations efficiently, and leveraging its global experience to support energy transitions in emerging and established markets. The Romania wind farms illustrate the company’s capacity to execute high-quality projects that balance environmental benefits with economic viability.

Through these developments, Elawan continues to solidify its position as a key player in the renewable energy sector, driving innovation and sustainable energy deployment across multiple continents while maintaining focus on long-term operational excellence and contribution to decarbonisation.
