Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 26, Zelestra has signed a long-term power purchase agreement with Microsoft to supply clean electricity from two solar projects in Spain with a combined capacity of 95.7 MW AC.
Zelestra's global portfolio comprises approximately 32GW of projects across six key growth markets.
The agreement covers the full output of the Escatrón II and Fuendetodos II solar plants, both under construction in Zaragoza, Aragón region.
In addition to the energy supply, Zelestra and Microsoft are partnering with the Aragón-based non-profit organisation ECODES to deliver community-focused programmes in the region. The initiative will provide direct social and environmental benefits, with ECODES managing grants to support local sustainability projects, particularly for vulnerable communities.
Cecilia Foronda, ECODES action head for a just ecological transition, said: "This collaboration with Zelestra and Microsoft is a unique opportunity to help accelerate the transition to a green, inclusive, and responsible economy in Aragón and across Spain. ECODES commits to listen to local stakeholders so that the benefits of this collaboration reach those who need them most, strengthening social participation and territorial balance and leaving no one behind."
Zelestra chief stakeholder and sustainability officer Scarlett Alvarez Uzcategui said: "This progressive collaboration with ECODES and Microsoft aligns perfectly with our commitment to deliver meaningful, positive impact in the communities where we operate. We will be present in Aragón for the long term, managing our projects to support Microsoft’s clean energy needs, and we are certain that the benefits of this initiative will also have a lasting positive impact for communities nearby."
The partnership supports Microsoft's carbon-negative targets and its Datacenter Community Pledge, which focuses on creating lasting local benefits alongside digital infrastructure development. For Zelestra, the community programme forms part of its global 3 Es strategy (education, energy, and environment) that emphasises social investment in project areas.
Zelestra is a vertically integrated renewable energy company with a global portfolio of approximately 32 GW of carbon-free projects across the United States, Germany, Spain, Italy, Central and South America, and India.
