Wedoany.com Report-Dec.9, Syria's General Company for Cement and Building Materials (Omran) has introduced its new Pozzolanic Cement 42.5 – CEM II at a launch event held at the company's cement plant in the Sheikh Saeed district of Aleppo.
Mahmoud Fadila, Omran's director general, described the product as the first industrial cement to reach the Syrian market following the region's return to stability. He highlighted the launch as a significant achievement in restoring the plant's full production capabilities and strengthening the domestic construction materials sector.
Fadila explained that the new cement grade is designed to offer reliable performance while reducing reliance on imported alternatives of varying quality. The development demonstrates the technical capabilities of Syrian engineers and workers committed to revitalising national industry and supplying high-quality materials essential for infrastructure rehabilitation.
During the ceremony, he emphasised the broader importance of such initiatives in the ongoing recovery phase.
Mahmoud Fadila stated: "the new cement type is the first industrial product to enter the Syrian market since the area's liberation."
He further noted that the successful production of Pozzolanic Cement 42.5 marks an encouraging early step in the reconstruction process, signalling progress toward greater self-sufficiency in building materials and continued innovation within Syria's industrial base.
The Aleppo facility, which has undergone necessary repairs and upgrades, now contributes to meeting domestic demand for durable cement suitable for a wide range of construction applications. The introduction of this locally manufactured product supports efforts to rebuild homes, public facilities and commercial structures across the region, while fostering employment and technical expertise among the local workforce.
Omran's achievement reflects a focused approach to reviving key manufacturing operations that were previously disrupted, enabling the company to play a central role in supplying materials critical to Syria's infrastructure renewal. The new cement variant meets established quality standards and is positioned to serve both immediate rebuilding needs and longer-term development projects throughout the country.
