Wedoany.com Report-Dec.19, Planzer, a prominent Swiss logistics and transport company, has modernized its IT infrastructure to address high operating costs and management challenges across its numerous sites. The company aimed to lower expenses, streamline network oversight, and adopt advanced technologies to support ongoing digital development.

Manuel Novio, Head of IT at Planzer, explains: "In our daily work we use connected solutions such as handhelds, scanners, and trackers across all our locations. A reliable network is one of the keys to this infrastructure."

Following a detailed assessment, Planzer selected Huawei Wi-Fi 7 access points, CloudCampus switches, and the iMaster NCE-Campus platform, hosted on the European Huawei Cloud. This setup provides unified management of the network spanning facilities in Switzerland and Germany.

"The solution supports us throughout the entire lifecycle of the campus network – from zero-touch deployment to monitoring, configuration, license management, and reporting. Through automation, we reduce manual configuration errors and thus increase efficiency," says Novio.

The rollout is being executed progressively in partnership with Huawei collaborator Cancom, migrating one distribution center at a time to maintain uninterrupted operations.

The new system delivers multiple advantages for Planzer. It substantially lowers overall operating costs compared to the prior setup, enhancing financial performance. Centralized cloud-based management through iMaster NCE-Campus simplifies administration, reducing manual tasks and operational complexity.

In warehouse environments, Wi-Fi 7 access points provide robust and high-speed wireless connectivity, markedly improving logistical workflows.

The infrastructure is built for scalability and longevity, accommodating continued digital advancements in logistics and allowing flexible adjustments to emerging needs. Planzer also gains greater responsiveness, enabling quicker establishment of new sites or upgrades via standardized processes.

"Thanks to the iMaster NCE Campus, we are well prepared for the future," says Novio.

"With Planzer, we streamlined the entire network refresh. Thanks to Zero touch provisioning, they saved significant time, eliminated costly vendor licenses, and value the direct support from us as the manufacturer", said Dominic Mettler, Network Architect & Solutions Manager at Huawei Switzerland.

Headquartered in Dietikon, Switzerland, Planzer is a family-owned enterprise founded in 1936, employing approximately 7,000 staff. It provides national and international freight, warehousing, and specialized logistics services across Switzerland and select European regions. The company emphasizes modern technology to optimize processes and fulfill customer requirements.

This infrastructure upgrade equips Planzer to meet evolving demands in the logistics sector through enhanced efficiency, cost control, and reliable connectivity.
