Wedoany.com Report-Dec.22, The city of Berlin, Germany, is advancing its important infrastructure renewal projects, with the reconstruction of the Westend Bridge already underway. This bridge is a key component of the A100 motorway, located in the western area of Berlin. Due to the aging and deterioration of the original bridge, the old structure was closed and subsequently demolished in early 2025.

The new Westend Bridge is being constructed by a consortium of contractors, with an estimated construction period of approximately 18 months. Upon completion of this Westend Bridge reconstruction project, it will reconnect the section of the A100 motorway between the Fernsehturm (TV Tower) and Spandau, restoring the traffic capacity of this vital artery.

This bridge renewal is part of Berlin's large-scale infrastructure renovation plan. According to assessments, approximately 300 bridges across the city require reconstruction or upgrading. Among these, 175 are planned to be rebuilt by 2040, while the remaining 125 require major repairs. The reconstruction of the Ringbahn (circular railway) bridges is also proceeding concurrently due to their structural issues. This systematic bridge renewal program aims to improve the condition of Berlin's transportation infrastructure.
