Wedoany.com Report-Dec.30, According to data released by the Italian steel producers' association Federacciai, the country's steel production saw a year-on-year decline in November after four consecutive months of growth. Italy's total steel output in November was approximately 1.8 million tons, a decrease of 2.8% compared to the same period last year.
Despite the downturn in the single-month November data, the Italian steel industry has maintained a growth trend overall this year. From January to November this year, Italy's cumulative total steel production reached 19.3 million tons, representing a 2.5% increase compared to the same period in 2024. The divergent trend between hot-rolled products became more pronounced in November: long product output continued its upward momentum, while flat product output continued to decline.
Specifically, Italy's long product output in November was 1.1 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%, indicating that its growth pace, although somewhat moderated, is still ongoing. In the first 11 months of this year, the country's total long product production increased by 4.7% year-on-year, reaching 11.5 million tons, already close to the 2024 target of 11.6 million tons. This contrasts with the performance of flat rolled products. In November, the output of this category was 709,000 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.2%. However, looking at the cumulative data from January to November, the total output of flat rolled products still achieved a 3.8% year-on-year growth, with a total volume of 8.3 million tons.
This data reflects normal monthly fluctuations in Italian steel production. The decline in steel output in November ended the period of consecutive growth from July to October.
