Wedoany.com News, Recently, India's Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced that it has secured a lump-sum turnkey contract from the state-owned energy company Petronet LNG Ltd. The contract involves the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of two large double-walled storage tanks and related facilities within the Dahej Petrochemical Complex in Gujarat.

According to the contract, Larsen & Toubro will be responsible for constructing one double-walled LNG/Ethane tank with a capacity of 170,000 cubic meters and one double-walled Propane tank with a capacity of 140,000 cubic meters. The scope of work also includes developing associated ethane and propane handling and offloading facilities to support the operation of the planned Propane Dehydrogenation (PDH) and Polypropylene (PP) plants within the complex. This project is a key component of Petronet LNG's INR 206.8 billion (approximately USD 2.2 billion) Dahej Petrochemical Complex. The complex is planned to have an annual production capacity of 750,000 tons of PDH and 500,000 tons of PP, and will become India's first petrochemical project integrating the utilization of cold energy from an LNG terminal, aiming to alleviate the domestic supply-demand gap for polypropylene. This move also marks Petronet LNG's official entry into the petrochemical sector, a diversification effort it has been pursuing since 2021.
