Leading liner companies are targeting the African market, strengthening port construction and "integrated logistics" layout on the continent.

Specifically, on January 18, TiL, a subsidiary of the world's largest liner company Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Libya's Misurata Free Zone Authority (MFZ) and the Qatari fund Maha Capital Partners for a $2.7 billion investment in the construction of the Misurata Port.

This port construction project, led by the Misurata Free Zone Authority, aims to increase the port's annual throughput from 685,000 TEU in 2025 to 4 million TEU. Misurata Port is Libya's main non-oil terminal, handling nearly two-thirds of the country's container traffic.

Muhsin Sigutri, Chairman of the Misurata Free Zone Authority, stated, "This partnership reflects Misurata's determination to build internationally competitive modern infrastructure that can unlock new industries, support local employment, and strengthen Libya's position in regional and global supply chains."
