Wedoany.com Report on Feb 5th, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, recently signed a long-term power purchase agreement with renewable energy company Zelestra to procure the entire power output of the Skull Creek solar farm in Texas, which has a DC capacity of 176 MW. This marks the seventh such agreement between the two parties. Upon completion of the project, Meta's potential total solar supply from Zelestra will reach 1.2 GW DC.

As the construction of AI data centers advances, Meta's electricity demand continues to grow. The Associated Press reported that, in addition to matching data center power consumption with renewable energy, the company is also investing in nuclear power in Ohio to support a cluster of data center facilities with a total load of 1 GW.

According to Meta's publicly available information, its energy strategy focuses on connecting with clean and renewable energy sources, covering various types such as solar, wind, hydro, and nuclear power. Currently, the company sources electricity from 127 solar projects worldwide.

Zelestra recently also announced that its 81 MW DC Jasper County solar project in Indiana has officially commenced operations, while a new 49 MW project in Ohio has also begun development.

"Our collaboration with Meta in the clean energy sector is rapidly progressing across the United States," said Phil North, CEO of Zelestra USA. "The full operational launch of the Jasper County project is exciting, two other major projects are already under construction, and the newly signed agreement will drive the implementation of the Skull Creek project in Texas. Based on our forward-looking partnership, nearly 1.2 GW DC of new clean solar power is about to become operational in the U.S."

Zelestra's US headquarters is located in Arlington, Virginia. It is reported that the company is currently developing renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 15 GW.
