Wedoany.com Report on Feb 9th, The future heating network project for the city center, promoted by the Limoges Métropole urban community, was launched at the beginning of this year. Operated by Engie Solutions under a thirty-year contract, the network will cover the city center of Limoges in the Haute-Vienne department.

This 23-kilometer-long infrastructure will primarily rely on a mix of renewable and recovered energy sources, with 97% of its energy coming from renewable and recovered origins. The energy recovery from municipal solid waste is a key supply method for the network. Starting from the end of the year, the heating network will gradually provide thermal energy to 9,470 equivalent residential units.

A distinctive feature of this heating network is the establishment of a water-based thermal storage system. Heat will be stored in a 5,000 cubic meter capacity storage tank, and the system will distribute thermal energy according to actual demand. This design helps reduce reliance on backup boilers and improves energy utilization efficiency.
