Wedoany.com Report on Feb 11th, According to a recent report from the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, the country plans to implement five major grain processing investment projects by 2028, primarily involving wheat and corn processing. The expected total annual processing capacity is projected to reach 4.8 million tons. The total investment for these projects amounts to approximately $2.6 billion, with an estimated creation of about 3,300 jobs.
The ministry stated that these grain processing projects will significantly enhance the production capacity of high-value-added products, including expanding the manufacturing scale of amino acids, syrups, vitamins, and bioactive ingredients. Additionally, the projects aim to improve labor productivity and boost the export of non-resource-based agricultural products.
Kazakhstan plans to primarily market the project outputs to international markets, targeting regions including the United States, European countries, China, India, CIS nations, the Middle East, and Africa. This direction aligns with the country’s strategic goal of expanding its export geographical reach.
Key projects include the construction of a wheat processing plant with an annual capacity of 415,000 tons in the Kostanay region, corn processing facilities in the Turkistan and Zhambyl regions, and new factories in Astana and Akmola regions focusing on the production of starch, gluten, bioethanol, and amino acids.
Data shows that Kazakhstan's starch product output in 2025 was 152,100 tons, including 57,100 tons of starch, 12,700 tons of gluten, 82,100 tons of molasses, and 21,200 tons of bioethanol. The new grain processing projects will further enhance the country's production capabilities in this sector.
