en.Wedoany.com Reported - Autonomous trucking startup Gatik AI Inc. has completed a $200 million funding round, led by the Qatar Investment Authority and Koch Disruptive Technologies, marking its largest financing round to date. With participation from institutions including Millennium Management, ARK Invest, and Intact Private Capital, the company's cumulative total funding has now reached approximately $500 million.

Gatik CEO and co-founder Gautam Narang stated that the funds will be used to expand autonomous trucking operational areas, extend transportation routes, and pursue new business. He noted that the investors participating in this round are financial investors focused on long-term returns, who typically enter only after business models and economic viability have been validated, so the company's focus is not on starting from scratch but on scaling existing operations.

This investment also signals to Gatik that the autonomous trucking industry has moved past the trial-and-error phase and entered an era of highway deployment in collaboration with major freight carriers in the United States and Canada. As Gatik and other companies complete more freight missions without incidents, an increasing number of investors are pouring into this sector.

The startup currently uses dozens of trucks to transport goods for multiple clients, including PepsiCo Inc., Walmart Inc., Kroger Co., and Tyson Foods Inc. Among these, driverless trucks operate in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Phoenix, and Northwest Arkansas; while transporting goods for Loblaw Cos. in Ontario, they are accompanied by safety drivers. Its trucks operate nearly 24 hours a day, moving ambient, refrigerated, and frozen goods between distribution centers and stores.

In January, Narang revealed that the company had signed agreements projecting revenue of $600 million over the next five years. He confirmed that the order backlog has increased but did not disclose the specific growth rate or whether the company is profitable.

Cathie Wood, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of ARK Invest, stated that as artificial intelligence and robotics converge to reshape the transportation ecosystem, autonomous freight is reaching a turning point; Gatik has proven that autonomous trucks are moving beyond the experimental stage into commercially viable operations, with increasing customer adoption.
