Argentina is one of the world's major wheat exporters, and this export of Argentine wheat to China will help it expand its Asian market. As the world's largest grain importer, China has been consistently promoting the diversification of import sources in recent years. In addition to traditional supplier countries like Australia, Canada, and France, China is gradually expanding its procurement scale from grain-producing countries in the Southern Hemisphere.
COFCO International is a Switzerland-based agricultural products trader and serves as COFCO Group's overseas business platform. The company has a procurement network in Argentina and participates in the construction of local grain circulation facilities. The port of departure for this Argentine wheat shipment was Puerto Blanca, with a voyage duration of approximately 30 days.
Industry analysis suggests that this batch export of Argentine wheat to China will enrich the raw material choices for domestic processing enterprises while reducing reliance on a single supply source. Data from China Customs shows that in 2025, China's total wheat imports were approximately 13 million tons, with Australia, Canada, and France being the primary source countries in that order.
