Wedoany.com Report on Feb 25th, The City of Kimberley's wastewater treatment plant project in British Columbia has recently achieved a significant milestone by receiving provincial registration approval, signifying formal confirmation of the project's compliance and planning.

The City of Kimberley announced that the registration approval under British Columbia's Municipal Wastewater Regulation (MWR) has been formally issued. This approval authorizes the City of Kimberley's wastewater treatment facility to meet provincial standards and confirms that the provincial government has reviewed and endorsed the wastewater system design, environmental protection plan, and operational strategy.
This registration will replace the existing operating permit, allowing the facility to proceed with construction and operation in compliance with the MWR's performance standards, monitoring requirements, and environmental protection measures to ensure public health and the safety of the surrounding environment.
The City of Kimberley Wastewater Treatment Project was first announced on December 4, 2023. It is jointly funded by the federal government, the Government of British Columbia, and the City of Kimberley, with a total funding commitment exceeding $90.6 million.
Currently, the building permit application has been submitted, with approval anticipated in late March. According to the plan, construction is scheduled to commence in April 2026, and the wastewater treatment plant is expected to be fully operational by 2028. This will enhance the City of Kimberley's wastewater treatment capacity and environmental protection standards.
