Wedoany.com Report on Feb 25th, Gradall Industries recently unveiled the new XE 4100 excavator. This machine maintains high performance while being lighter in weight and offering a price advantage, making it suitable for the budget needs of public agencies such as states, counties, and municipalities, as well as professional contractors.

The XE 4100 6 x 4 model is designed to reduce operating costs while inheriting the productivity and versatility of the Gradall XL 4100 Series I model. According to Gradall, the machine features a 27-foot reach and a 20-foot digging depth. Combined with its telescopic boom providing 220-degree rotation, it can perform tasks such as grading, trenching, excavation, landscaping, vegetation control, and removal of curbs, sidewalks, and culverts without the need for outriggers. Its low-profile boom design allows for flexible operation under bridges and trees, adapting to spaces difficult for traditional excavators to access.
The XE 4100 excavator incorporates several features from Gradall's Series V models, including a Volvo engine, an advanced Bosch Rexroth high-pressure hydraulic system, and electric joystick controls that support Gradall, Deere, or SAE joystick modes. The remote repositioning system allows operation from either the carrier or the upper cab. It uses an Allison-approved transmission, ensuring smooth and reliable performance with easy maintenance. When operated from the carrier cab, the machine can reach highway speeds of up to 60 mph, enabling quick arrival at job sites without a trailer. When operated from the upper cab, it can move along trenches at 7 mph on-site.
The XE 4100 excavator weighs 45,900 pounds, approximately 4,000 pounds lighter than the XL 4100 Series V model. This weight reduction is primarily achieved by reducing the counterweight size and shortening the tail swing by 6 inches. Despite this, its geometry maintains arm force comparable to the XL 4100 Series I model, along with the balance, stability, and road travel performance required by the operator. Optional equipment includes an AM/FM radio, work lights, and auxiliary hydraulic lines. Heating and air conditioning for both cabs are standard, enhancing operator comfort. Standard attachments cover a variety of buckets, tree shears, and fixed thumb grapples.
Gradall excavators are designed and manufactured in the USA, benefiting from duty-free pricing, which further strengthens the cost advantage of the XE 4100. This lightweight excavator provides an efficient and versatile solution for the public works sector, helping to optimize project budgets and operational flexibility.
