GD NRW plans to conduct a 2D seismic survey program in the northwestern Münsterland region and the adjacent Lower Rhine region. The exploration target of the planned survey is to investigate geothermal potential down to approximately 4 km depth, specifically regarding the thickness, depth location, and structure of potential geothermal reservoirs, as well as the location of potentially water-bearing fault zones. Potential geothermal reservoirs within the project area include Mesozoic and Permian sandstones and carbonates, as well as Carboniferous and Devonian carbonates.
