UK-based resource management company Reconomy has announced the acquisition of Gesellschaft für Abfallwirtschaft mbH (GfAW), a provider of industrial waste management solutions based in Immelstadt, Germany. This acquisition will enhance Reconomy's capabilities in circular economy services within the European market, particularly in the management of complex industrial waste streams.
GfAW specializes in arranging disposal and recycling pathways for industrial waste streams, including waste mineral wool, gypsum, and demolition materials. The company serves construction and demolition companies, as well as industrial manufacturers and commercial waste producers across Germany, Italy, and France. By optimizing recycling routes, coordinating logistics, and improving cost-effectiveness, GfAW helps reduce net disposal costs and maintains a long-term network of partners within the EU.
Andrea Langenfeld, founder of GfAW, stated: "Joining an international team of circular economy experts with extensive capabilities will significantly enhance the expertise we can offer our clients. We look forward to collaborating with Reconomy to jointly advance the development of the circular economy."
This acquisition integrates GfAW into the operations of Reconomy Nordics, strengthening its regional platform. Guy Wakeley, CEO of Reconomy, noted: "We are very pleased to complete this acquisition, which enhances our ability to provide circular solutions for companies in the EU dealing with complex waste streams. We believe GfAW will make a significant contribution to our mission of helping businesses reduce waste, lower carbon emissions, and cut costs."
