Wedonay.com Report on Mar 7th, Volvo Cars Group recently introduced three 100% biodiesel trucks into the component transportation operations at its Curitiba plant in Paraná, Brazil, which were procured and are operated by the transport company Transdotti Transportes. These Volvo FH B100 Flex trucks use fully renewable biofuel and are expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 370 tons annually, further expanding the decarbonization initiatives of the plant's logistics system.

Bettina Konig, Head of Volvo Manufacturing Transport Operations, stated: "This is another step forward in Volvo's sustainability journey. In addition to offering low-emission products to the market, we are continuously expanding the decarbonization scope of our own industrial processes." Since 2024, the plant has been using several Volvo FM Electric trucks for medium-distance transport routes, while the newly introduced 100% biodiesel trucks will cover long-haul routes.

Aline Gaensly, Head of Logistics Service Procurement, emphasized: "We are continuously reducing CO₂ emissions in the transportation process of components delivered to the plant. Now, the B100 Flex trucks will cover long-distance routes that are currently not feasible for electric models." Classified as a new energy vehicle, the Volvo FH B100 Flex truck is equipped with a dedicated engine that can use either 100% biodiesel or conventional diesel, offering fuel flexibility.

Alexandre Mohr, Volvo's Alternative Fuels Product Manager, pointed out: "When using pure biodiesel, the well-to-wheel CO₂ emission reduction can reach up to 90%, depending on the source and production method of the biofuel." Transdotti is one of the first companies to use this truck outside the biofuel production ecosystem. The vehicles will be used to transport components from suppliers in São Paulo to Volvo's plant in Paraná, covering approximately 10,000 kilometers per month.

Affonso Dotti Neto, CEO of Transdotti, said: "This is a great opportunity to collaborate with the Volvo brand to develop something innovative. We also care about environmental issues, so this is a strategic partnership." The company has installed dedicated biodiesel refueling tanks at its headquarters, while the vehicles are also compatible with conventional diesel, providing convenience for future operations. Affonso Dotti added: "Therefore, we have the potential to expand such investments." The introduction of these 100% biodiesel trucks marks a new step in Volvo's progress towards reducing logistics emissions at its Brazilian plant.
