Wedoany.com Report on 9th, American gaming company Valve recently updated the release timeline for its hardware product line, clearly planning to officially launch the second-generation Steam Machine game console, the next-generation Steam Controller game controller, and the new VR headset Steam Frame in 2026. The concentrated release of these three products signifies that Valve is accelerating the expansion of its gaming hardware ecosystem, aiming to directly compete with existing devices like the Meta Quest in the living room entertainment and virtual reality fields.
According to the latest news from Valve's official blog, the company expects to ship all three products within 2026. Although it was previously mentioned that the global shortage of memory and storage chips might impact the release timing, Valve's public relations representative Kaci Aitchison Boyle confirmed to the public that the overall launch plan remains unchanged, and the company is still progressing according to the established schedule.
One of the core products of this launch is the new-generation Steam Machine. Unlike the first-generation product, the new Steam Machine is designed as a portable mini PC, featuring a 6-inch black cube form factor and running the Linux-based SteamOS system. Its primary goal is to allow users to directly play the vast library of games on the Steam platform on their TVs. This console will synergize with the same-generation Steam Controller and the VR headset Steam Frame, creating a complete experience loop from the living room to immersive virtual reality. These three products were first previewed as early as last November.
Notably, Valve's hardware launch comes against the backdrop of ongoing global chip supply chain tensions. Chip giant Nvidia recently predicted that the tight supply situation for gaming chips may persist until the end of 2026. Despite facing this industry-wide challenge, Valve is still adhering to its 2026 launch schedule, but as of now, it has not announced the specific release months for the three products.
