Wedoany.com Report on Mar 9th, ABB recently announced that its factory located in Zibo, Shandong Province, China, has achieved measurable reductions in energy consumption and carbon emissions through low-carbon manufacturing initiatives.

Supported by a digital energy management system, the production facility implemented efficiency and electrification upgrades, saving 71 MWh of energy annually and reducing emissions by over 63 tons of CO2 equivalent. These low-carbon manufacturing improvements are part of ABB's "Mission to Zero™" program, aimed at driving sustainable industrial operations.
The Zibo factory, which primarily produces smart building wiring accessories, enhanced its efficiency through measures such as installing LED lighting, optimizing air conditioning systems, and upgrading air compressor controls. The factory is powered entirely by renewable energy, with 15% of its electricity generated from rooftop photovoltaic panels and the remainder sourced through green power procurement.
ABB stated that the factory utilizes an energy management system to monitor and analyze energy performance in real-time, supporting data-driven decision-making. Mike Mustapha, President of ABB's Electrification Smart Buildings division, said: "The progress in Zibo demonstrates how 'Mission to Zero™' translates into measurable results. By combining digital energy management, efficiency improvements, and renewable energy, the team has achieved substantial reductions in energy use and emissions while enhancing the factory's competitiveness."
The factory has obtained ISO 50001 energy management certification and has been recognized as a municipal-level "Green Factory" in Zibo. Furthermore, the factory is advancing waste reduction and recycling programs, with the goal of achieving "Zero Waste to Landfill" certification by the end of 2026. The Zibo factory is part of ABB's global "Mission to Zero™" network, spanning Europe, the Americas, and Asia, showcasing the application of low-carbon manufacturing in industrial operations.
