Wedoany.com Report on Mar 10th, Swedish thin-film solar manufacturer Midsummer recently announced that it has received a follow-up order for machinery and equipment worth approximately 236 million Swedish kronor (equivalent to $25.5 million). The order was placed by a Swedish industrial and defense group and involves Midsummer's proprietary DUO turnkey production system for manufacturing thin-film copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) solar cells.
This order marks Midsummer's largest single transaction to date, following a machinery and equipment supply order signed with another undisclosed company in May 2025. Although specific capacity details of the new order were not disclosed, referencing a previous turnkey production line order worth 143.5 million Swedish kronor with an annual capacity of 15 MW, it is expected that this order will represent a significant increase in capacity. The company stated that the value of this order will be recognized as revenue in 2026.
Midsummer revealed that the first order was manufactured and recently delivered in Sweden last autumn. The upgrade of the new factory will be implemented in phases to meet the growing market demand in the coming years. Midsummer CEO Eric Jaremalm stated: "Current market feedback indicates that our panel products are attractive. Consecutive orders not only validate our strategy and capability to handle large-scale projects but also accumulate valuable experience. Our goal is to provide complete solar cell factory solutions to more customers worldwide."
