Wedoany.com Report on Mar 13th, American electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian has announced that its highly anticipated midsize all-electric crossover SUV, the R2, will commence deliveries. In the spring of 2026, the R2 Performance variant will be the first to hit the market, with a starting price of $57,990. The long-awaited base model, the R2 Standard priced at $45,000, is planned for release by the end of 2027. The Rivian R2 lineup offers multiple configuration levels to meet diverse market demands.

As the launch edition, the Rivian R2 Performance features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system producing 656 horsepower and 609 lb-ft of torque, achieving a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.6 seconds and an estimated range of 330 miles. The R2 Premium version is expected to launch in late 2026, priced at $53,990, equipped with a 450-horsepower dual-motor setup, an acceleration time of 4.6 seconds, and the same 330-mile range. The base R2 Standard will arrive in spring 2027, priced at $48,490, featuring a single-motor rear-wheel-drive design delivering 350 horsepower and a range of 345 miles. A more economical R2 Standard variant will be introduced by the end of 2027, offering approximately 275 miles of range.
All Rivian R2 models come standard with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port compatible with Tesla Superchargers and support connection to SAE Combined Charging System (CCS) DC fast-charging networks via an adapter. In terms of features, the R2 Standard includes basics such as Esker Silver exterior paint, heated seats, and a standard audio system. The R2 Premium adds premium interior materials, ventilated seats, and the Rivian Elevation audio system. The R2 Performance is equipped with a semi-active suspension, Compass Yellow brake calipers, and additional drive mode options.

The Rivian R2 offers a variety of exterior color choices, including exclusive Catalina Cove, Esker Silver, and Half Moon Grey. Wheel options range from 19-inch to 21-inch, impacting the balance between range and performance. Rivian Founder and CEO RJ Scaringe stated, "R2 embodies so much of what we've learned—the passion of our team and our attention to detail are everywhere you look. Thank you to all the Rivian teams who poured their energy into making this incredible vehicle a reality. I couldn't be more excited." The company plans to release an online configurator in the coming months, allowing consumers to customize their vehicle and place a $100 deposit to reserve.
