Wedoany.com Report on Mar 13th, The Indian state-owned company Khanij Bidesh India Ltd (KABIL) has announced the establishment of an office in the town of Fiambalá, Catamarca Province, Argentina, to provide information for its Cortaderas Sur lithium exploration project and receive resumes from local residents. This initiative aims to support the project's advancement, prioritize the hiring of local labor, and strengthen collaboration with surrounding suppliers.

The announcement was made during the first technical information meeting held at School No. 128 in Fiambalá. During the meeting, company representatives presented the project's objectives, exploration plans, and environmental and social commitments, while also gathering community questions as part of the environmental impact assessment. Attendees included Fiambalá Mayor Raúl Usqueda, senior officials from CAMYEN S.E., and representatives from the Catamarca Provincial Mining Ministry.

This meeting was part of the Catamarca Mining Ministry's Citizen Participation Program, designed to promote transparency of information regarding mining projects. The Cortaderas Sur project is based on an agreement between CAMYEN S.E. and KABIL and includes geological exploration work to assess lithium resource potential.

The Cortaderas project covers five lithium mining concessions spanning over 15,000 hectares in the Fiambalá and Tinogasta departments. At the end of February, the Mining Ministry initiated a public consultation for the environmental impact assessment of the exploration phase. The study plan involves 11 drill holes reaching depths of approximately 800 meters, with an initial investment of around $4 million. The project is expected to require 25 to 30 workers, covering various positions.

KABIL signed a cooperation agreement with CAMYEN in January 2024, attended by Catamarca Governor Raúl Jalil and representatives of the Indian government. Indian Minister Pralhad Joshi described the agreement as historic for India, helping to strengthen lithium supply and promote the development of lithium mining in both countries. In addition to the Cortaderas project, KABIL also plans to evaluate other mining areas in Catamarca Province and is one of three Indian companies collaborating with CAMYEN to explore for lithium.
